What are the tests for blood in urine ?
If you also doubt that you have hematuria too, you can get some tests done as per the advice of the specialist. Through these tests, your specialist will be able to know what is the root cause of your blood in urine. Know which are those tests-
1 .KFT (Kidney function test)-
The KFT test is a set of tests used to determine kidney function. Apart from this, it is also called RFT (renal function test). This test includes KFT/RFT, blood urea/blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine and eGFR tests.
Some laboratories may also include urine analysis as part of the KFT/RFT to determine the amount of protein in the urine. According to experts the blood level of sodium, potassium, chloride, uric acid can also be a part of KFT. Kidney does the work of balancing all these chemicals in the body. The tests done to check this kidney function are called KFT / RFT.
2 .Hemoglobin-
Hemoglobin is a type of protein that carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. The hemoglobin test measures the amount of hemoglobin in your blood.
3 .USG-KUB(ultrasonography of kidney, ureters and bladder)-
In this test, an ultrasound scan of the kidney, ureter and bladder is done. Specialists use the USG-KUB test to determine the exact cause and treatment of a patient’s urinary tract diseases and abdominal pain.
4 .CT Scan-
Imaging tests such as CT scan are commonly done to detect kidney cysts, tumors and stones. This test helps the specialist to know the exact location of the cause.
5 .Cystoscopy test-
Cystoscopy test is done to know other diseases like hematuria. It consists of a thin tube called a cystoscope, with a camera and light at its end. The specialist inserts the cystoscope through the patient’s urethra into the bladder and examines the exact cause of the blood in the urine.
