The medical prescription issued by your doctor will depend on the organism, which is causing the infection. This may include antibiotics, antifungal drugs or antiviral drugs. Cryosurgery is a procedure that uses freezing temperatures to freeze abnormal cells in the uterus. Can also be done by your doctor. In severe cases where there is damage to the cervical cells, your doctor may apply silver nitrate (destroy the abnormal cells).

Your doctor may also recommend your partner for treatment, so as to prevent recurrence of the disease and sex should be avoided for as long as the process is going on. If you are tested to be HIV positive, then treatment is mandatory. Also having a uterus makes you more likely to get the virus from an HIV-positive partner.
